Frequently Asked Questions

Do you do other types of Voice Over besides narration?

Yes.
I want to do all types of Voice Over! Narration is where I get most of my work currently, but I would love to do animation, audio dramas, or video games.

Is there any content you won’t perform?

Yes.
I will not do Voiceovers for any explicit sexual content, I only do closed-door romance books. But please, do reach out if you’re confused about where I draw the line, and I’ll let you know if the content you want me to perform is out of my comfort zone or totally fine!

What kind of setup do you have?

I have an at-home studio that is sound-treated. I use a Synco d2 XLR shotgun microphone; I record my audio in Logic Pro X and edit it in izotope RX 8 Standard.

What types of services do you provide for Audiobooks?

After receiving the manuscript, I’ll read the book and prepare it for recording. If I find typographical errors that interfere with the recording, I will create a spreadsheet for the author to let me know how they should be corrected. After prepping the book, I usually provide samples of character voice options so that the client can be happy with how their characters sound. I then record and edit the raw audio chapter by chapter. I upload each completed chapter to a shared Dropbox folder, where we can collaborate during the whole process.

How can I work out the budget for my book?

I get paid per finished hour (pfh), which means if it takes me 5 hours to record, edit, and engineer 1 hour of the book, you won’t be charged for 6 hours, just the finished 1. A good rule of thumb is that every 10,000 words equals a finished hour. So a 100,000-word book will take roughly 10 hours.

What is your rate?

$200pfh. However, if an author’s budget doesn’t fit within that, I’m happy to discuss using royalty shares/royalty shares plus as a potential alternative.
